We are thrilled to introduce Matt Haase, the newest member of our leadership team as our Edmonton Warranty Manager.
Matt charted a path through various industries before arriving at his current career milestone. Directly after high school, he embarked on an education in Diesel Mechanics at NAIT, which led to a few years within the petroleum sector before deciding to pivot a completely different direction and return to school for Journalism.
Upon graduating, Matt joined the Edmonton Journal, dedicating close to a decade as a writer, copy editor, and columnist for the Driving section. With the decline in print media, a transition back into the heavy equipment technician field was made, concluding in a Red Seal heavy equipment ticket and a subsequent role in the warranty department at Volvo Trucks. A decade later, an opportunity at Stahl Peterbilt arose, offering a new challenge and the chance to further expand his expertise and passion for warranty at the Stahl group.
The reputation of Stahl within the heavy equipment and transportation sector was a significant pull for Matt. Since the start of the year, the enthusiastic, dedicated, and respectful culture within Stahl Peterbilt towards its product, facilities, and employees has drawn Matt to us.
The new role as Warranty Manager brings excitement, primarily due to the learning opportunities about Peterbilt products, the Stahl operations, and the team dynamics. He is keen to leverage his warranty experience for the benefit of the company and its clientele, emphasizing the importance of customer service.
In terms of leadership, Matt values listening, understanding, and collaboration. Recognizing the expertise within the team is crucial for successful implementation of process improvements. One of his significant career accomplishments includes rejuvenating a warranty department's approach while at Volvo, recovering lost revenue, and reducing inefficiencies which led to increased claims approval and labour recovery rates, ultimately earning a promotion to a managerial role. Matt's main goal is to refine warranty and service procedures, further optimizing warranty use to benefit customers and the company. This pursuit is driven by a passion for demonstrating to clients the tangible benefits of investing in warranties, especially considering the demanding industry.
Outside of work, his life is filled with travel, camping, photography, and a love for the outdoors. A family shared passion for speed manifests through participation in various racing series and coaching hockey, showcasing a dynamic and active personal life beyond professional endeavors.
